Annual: A plant that grows, blooms, produces seed, and dies in one year.

Aeration: The process of making holes in the soil to improve air circulation and allow water and nutrients to reach plant roots.

Biennial: A plant that produces leaves in one season and blooms and dies in the second season.

Deadheading: A technique that involves removing spent flowers and seed heads from plants to encourage more blooms and improve the plant’s appearance.

Fertilizer: improves plant growth and productivity by adding nutrients to the soil.

Germinate/Germination: The process by which a plant grows from a seed into a seedling.

Perennial: A plant that grows and blooms for years.

Transplant: Moving a plant from one growing space to another.
